F.P. Welch began peddling coal oil to farmers throughout the Midwest, via mule and horse drawn wagon, at the turn of the century. His vision was to sell direct to the farmers and to provide them a "Square Deal". In this small and meager way, without capital and but little experience was the start of Illinois Oil Company. F.P. and his brothers incorporated the company and located it's headquarters in Rock Island, Illinois in 1908...
